Allison currently works with the NHS as a Senior Scientific Adviser for Artificial Intelligence. She is a director of 'Women Leading in AI' and works internationally with governments and organisations such as the UN to advocate for the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence.
Previously, she spent over 25 years as a Science and PSHE teacher in secondary schools. During this time Allison completed a PhD in Molecular Biology (for fun!) and then lectured at Keele University leading the Data Science Degree apprenticeship programme.
Allison spent 6 years as a councillor in Newcastle-under-Lyme, where she was also Chair of the CLP. She was the inspirational campaign coordinator for the 2017 general election there, winning against all the odds. Allison was also one of the leading campaigners to save Bradwell Community Hospital and is well-respected across North Staffordshire for her passionate commitment to the area.
Allison was a 'military baby' and born in Singapore where her Navy father was stationed but was raised by her Irish mother, who was a factory manager. She credits her mum, who started working life as a cleaner, for instilling in her a strong work ethic, resilience and determination to succeed.
