Meir North Pride in Place

Since I was elected I knew Meir needed more, I campaigned and lobbied and I am pleased that I have secured £20 million via the Pride in Place funding. The funding will be allocated over the next decade, this is funding for the people with decisions made by the people.

If you are a resident of Meir North, or work in the area, we want you to be involved on the neighbourhood board, or simply email your ideas to allison.gardner.mp@parliament.uk .

As the programme progresses, you’ll be able to get details of the neighbourhood board which will oversee spending decisions. You’ll be able to find out where the money is being spent and get full details of board meetings.

If you wish to nominate yourself for consideration, please complete the expression of interest using the form here.  This form includes the local engagement groups, Neighbourhood Board and information on how to apply for the Chair of the Neighbourhood Board. The deadline for the Chair is March 15th, however there is longer to apply for the Board and engagement groups.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please email me at allison.gardner.mp@parliament.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The Government’s Pride in Place Programme will see up to £5 billion given to nearly 250 areas across the UK. Each area will receive up to £20 million of funding and support over the next 10 years to make long-term improvements that residents want.

With Pride in Place, residents, businesses, and community groups will deliver real improvements that matter to local people. This is led by local people and backed by the UK government.

This hyper-local programme will deliver up to £20 million of funding over the next decade into areas that are ‘doubly disadvantaged’ by both the highest deprivation levels and weakest social infrastructure. The areas are selected at via the existing council wards.

The full list of places and the details of our selection methodology is published in the Pride in Place Programme place selection methodology note.

The Pride in Place Programme relies on the power of local people and partnerships, bringing together residents, the local MP, councils, businesses and community organisations to produce a clear vision for their area.

The Neighbourhood Board is responsible for producing the 10 year vision for a place, supported by interventions which are set out in the Regeneration Plan, to achieve the strategic objectives of the programme.

The neighbourhood board should bring together residents, local businesses, grassroots campaigners, workplace representatives, faith, the local MP and community leaders and those with a deep connection to their area. Involving their community, the board should generate a vision for the future of their area and set out a pathway to deliver that over the course of the 10-year programme .

  •  Funding for improvements to town centres, neighbourhoods, and high streets, including capital spend and running costs.
